Sharon’s Story

Hello my name is Sharon. I live in Forest Park, Ohio with my husband, Mark, and our wonderful dogs, Chazz and Chancellor.

My husband and I have been living in our home for 5 years, our first home, and we love it. In 2005 my husband was terminated from his job at, things were still okay, I had begun working a new job and was making enough money to even save a little. Mark already had a blood disorder called Sickle Cell Anemia, and was in and out of the hospital getting red cell exchanges to bring his blood level up to where he could function normally, he still gets them every six weeks or so, but cannot have a visit at the doctors office until the billed is paid. Then he was diagnosed with a birth defect causing a valve to leak in his heart, (CHF) congestive heart failure, which led to more hospital stays and doctors visits

With all this going on, I was taking a lot of time away from work, going to the hospital to care for my husband, I lost my job in July of 2008, all we had was his social security check. In September of 2008 I started a new job, making ½ of what I was originally making.  It just got so difficult that we could not keep up, and that is when we fell behind.

We can’t even get health care anymore with the insurance that we have through my new job, the deductibles are so high, that Mark cannot see any of his doctors until we pay pass due bills.

I happen to change the channel early this morning just in time to catch this story.  This would be a great opportunity for me and my family to get caught up for a change, and try to stay caught up. Thank you so much for reading our story, we know that this is a wonderful and thoughtful thing you are doing, and keeping it in the tri-state area is very exciting.

Even if our story is not chosen, “May God Bless you”, and whomever your organization is led to bless.
